Range of Xerox Digital Color Systems Gives Print Providers Competitive Advantage

PHILADELPHIA, April 21, 2010 – Print providers who rely on digital color technology from Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) have proven that applications such as custom photo books, personalized creative mailers and scrap booking supplies are providing new profitable revenue streams and business opportunities.

Their testimonies correspond to a Caslon1 forecast that reports digital color page volume in North America will grow from nearly 10 percent of digital pages in 2008 to almost 50 percent of all digital pages printed – more than 325 billion pages – by 2017.

Martech, a strategic communications and digital imaging firm based in Kansas City, Kan., recently installed two Xerox iGen4™ Presses with Xerox FreeFlow® VIPP PRO Publisher, to expand its printing capabilities and attract new clients.

“The iGen4’s outstanding color matching and variable-data printing capabilities have led to innovative new projects and growth,” said Sam Schembri, chairman and CEO, Martech. “The heavy weight stock options allow us to print on a range of coated, uncoated and specialty papers – enabling us to produce pieces with creative, one-to-one messaging that differentiate them from traditional mailers or collateral.”

Looking to support a growing photo book business, AlphaGraphics®, based in Henrico, Va., installed a Xerox DocuColor® 7002 Digital Press with Xerox FreeFlow Print Server. The press is used to produce photo books, calendars, note cards and other photo specialty products for AlphaGraphics’ customer, MemoriesAlive.com. The decision to purchase the device came after Lloyd Cozens, general manager, AlphaGraphics, attended one of Xerox’s Business Development Thought Leadership Workshops on book publishing.

“Everyone who sees the quality of applications produced on the Xerox 7002 is blown away,” said Cozens. “This, along with the automated system calibration and spot color matching are leading to more profitable business opportunities for us.”

With the installation of the Xerox 700 Digital Color Press and EFI’s Splash® RPX-iii, K & Company reduced the steps in their proofing process. This directly improved the time-to-market capabilities for their unique and profitable line of business – scrap book supplies, such as colorful stickers, embellishments and specialty paper for major retailers.

“Our work demands spot-on color consistency and the Xerox 700 delivers,” said Jim Myers, manager, IT and Creative Support, K & Company, based in Kansas City, Mo.  “That level of consistency keeps our customers satisfied and is a profit-building asset for our company.”

Adding to Xerox’s digital color collection is the recently-announced Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses. The devices can print high definition image quality on a wide range of paper stock and come with an optional clear dry ink station to further amplify full-color jobs.

Xerox Geared Up to Support Print Providers at On Demand

PHILADELPHIA, April 20, 2010 - Primed to help graphic communications providers identify new revenue opportunities, Xerox Corporation (NYSE:
XRX) brings digital color technology, business-generating tools and educational seminars to On Demand. The company also will debut the latest additions to its digital color portfolio - the Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses.

"Xerox realizes attendees are making an investment to come to On Demand, and we are ready to deliver. Our booth features products and services that help print providers compete in this turnaround economy," said Gina Testa, vice president, Worldwide Graphic Communications, Xerox Corporation.

Print service providers looking to expand their digital businesses now have two new options to produce sophisticated, full-color applications including sales collateral and direct-marketing pieces. The Xerox Color 800/1000 Presses, printing at 80 and 100 pages per minute respectively, offer a new clear dry ink station, allowing for images and text to be highlighted for visual impact. The presses produce high-definition image quality on a wide array of paper stock.

At the show, Xerox will also introduce new business development software that helps print providers maximize resources and time. For example, the ProfitQuick(r) Direct Marketing ROI Planner evaluates the effectiveness of a direct-mail campaign - before anything is printed, and the ezBusiness Planner offers a customized five-year business plan. The new Wide Format Essentials Kit will help print providers capture additional large format business by helping them build a marketing plan, host an open house and identify revenue generating applications.

Throughout the show, Xerox executives and customers will take part in a range of panel discussions, starting with Testa's On Demand Opening Keynote, a CMO Spotlight. Marketing executives from Anderson Direct, Ducati Motorcycles, Dow Jones and Company, and Universal Studios will discuss how print fits into today's evolving marketing landscape.

Additional panel sessions will follow on topics such as how to implement a new value-based pricing model and how to best use Web-to-print services. Variable printing, direct marketing, making the transition from printer to marketing services provider and other hot industry topics will also be discussed.

Xerox's Real Business Live! Event: The Rhythm of Print, taking place at
4 p.m. today in the Grand Ballroom of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, will explore new ways to profit from and grow with digital print. Xerox will also host a virtual tradeshow; visit http://www.xerox.com/rhythm to register.

Xerox’s New Multifunction Printer Combines Affordable Color with High-Productivity Workflow Tools

NORWALK, Conn., April 19, 2010 – Xerox Corporation’s (NYSE: XRX) new color and black-and-white multifunction printers (MFPs) offer advanced scanning, document workflow features and security enhancements at an affordable price.

Aimed at budget-minded small- and medium-size businesses (SMBs), the Xerox WorkCentre® 7120 color MFP prints high-impact color documents, such as presentations and budget charts. The MFP prints color and black-and-white documents at speeds up to 20 pages-per-minute (ppm) using Xerox’s Emulsion Aggregate High Gloss (EA-HG) toner, which produces smaller, more consistent toner particles, to create crisp text and sharper color images.

“Today’s MFPs do far more than copy and print – they improve the way work gets done,” said Rick Dastin, president, Global Product Delivery Group, Xerox Corporation. “The WorkCentre 7120 helps SMB’s maximize office productivity and produce affordable, impactful color documents.”

The WorkCentre 7120 is equipped with advanced document management features that add convenience and make office work easier:

  • Document routing to e-mail, network and content management software simultaneously for repeatable workflows
  • Advanced color scanning up to 55 ppm
  • Faxing over IP, fax forward to e-mail and scan to or print from USB
  • Xerox Auditron monitors color printing costs

The MFP also provides opportunities for SMBs to lower their environmental impact:

  • One of the most compact hallway color MFPs
  • Consumes 3.08 watts of power in sleep mode
  • Route and preview incoming documents on the interface or at PC to eliminate needless printing
  • Earth Smart print driver defaults include two-sided printing with no banner pages

In addition, Xerox is updating its line of black-and-white MFPs. The Xerox WorkCentre 5700 Series includes seven new MFPs that handle everything from general office documents to high-volume print jobs. With print speeds up to 90 ppm, the MFPs can:

  • Print, copy, scan or fax without interruption for quick turnarounds
  • Scan documents in color
  • Move to the next job if the first job in queue is held up due to a lack of resources with the Print Around feature

The WorkCentre 5700 Series comes equipped with advanced security features, including full support for the IPv6 network security standard, Image Overwrite to electronically “shred” data, fax isolation to prevent unauthorized access to data and Network Authentication to restrict access to scan, e-mail and network fax features.

“With advanced document security and workflow tools, the WorkCentre 5700 Series can help IT departments solve their most difficult document management challenges,” said Dastin.

Both the WorkCentre 7120 and WorkCentre 5700 Series are built on Xerox's Extensible Interface Platform® (EIP), a technology that can be used to create customized workflow applications. For example, a law firm can scan information directly to a client folder from the MFPs’ color user interface without specifying the client name.
